In Kashmir a young army officer was kidnapped by terrorists from a wedding and shot dead, last night. A Lieutenant, Umar Fayyaz joined the army about five months ago. Umar Fayyaz body was found in Shopians with bullets in Umar Fayyaz’s abdomen and head.
Umar Fayyaz was on leave and for his cousin’s wedding at Kulgaon in South Kashmir he was gone, and around 10 pm he was kidnapped.
The army source said that, "Young and full of life, Umar Fayyaz was just commissioned in December."
The mark of killing was worrying trend of terrorists targeting the army officers, even when they are off duty. As per the sources.
Recently, an advisory was put out by the police of the state asking the personnel not to visit homes, which are especially in South Kashmir areas.
At the Militant activities there has been a spike in most of the districts of South Kashmir which includes the places, Shopian, Anantnag, Kulgam and Pulwama.
For terrorists in south Kashmir the local support has been seen, who have been roaming openly in the countryside. More than the terrorists, the public support for them is much bigger problem for the forces of security who frequently encountered resistance from crowds while fighting terrorists as police says.
Security forces carried out a huge anti-terror operation on last Thursday, from air by Helicopter it was monitored and unmanned vehicles across two dozen villages in Shopian. At its fag end, a sudden strike by terrorists killed one civilian and injured two soldiers. Even on that day, the forces encountered resistance from locals in at least four villages.
In Anantnag, two day later a policeman Azhar Mehmood was killed along with three civilians by Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Fayaz Ahmad Aishwar.
Azhar Mehmood was attacked while he and other policemen were regulating traffic after a road accident.
Last week in another incident, terrorists killed five policemen and two private guards in Kulgam after dragging them out of a cash van.
