Russina Names New Coronavirus Vaccine "Sputnik V" After Soviet Satellite
New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin today announced that Russia has developed the first vaccine offering "sustainable immunity" against the coronavirus.
Moscoe has dubbed its new coronavirus vaccine "Sputnik V" after the soviet satellite, the head of the country's sovereign wealth fund said
During a televised video conference call with the government ministers he said that "This morning, for the first time in the world, a vaccine against the new coronavirus was registered".
"One of my daughters had this vaccine. I think in this sense she took part in the experiment," Putin said.
Russia has been working hard to quickly develop a coronavirus vaccine and earlier this month said that it hoped to launch mass production within the weeks and turn out "several million" doses per month by next year.
Last week the World Health Organisation urged Russia to follow established guidelines and go "through all the stages" neccesary to develop a safe vaccine
