Pakistan’s Power Supply Restored After National Major Power Blackout

Pakistan’s Power Supply Restored After National Major Power Blackout
New Delhi: Long difficult Hours after massive blackout in Pakistan due to fault in the power distribution system, is now restored fully or partially on Sunday in many cities of the country. The power outage was reported shortly before midnight almost simultaneously in many cities. Residents of Karachi, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan and others faced the major blackout.
Pakistan Energy Minister Omar Ayub Khan said that technical teams were working to restore the power supply. He added electricity supply was restored fully or partially in many cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Faisalabad but it would take some time before the restoration of normal supply.

4. 8 out of 12 220 kv Grid Stations in Lahore energized. Consumer level 11 kv power to be restored shortly in Lahore.
Information Minister Shibli Faraz, told reporters that the power supply went down at 11:41 pm on Saturday after a technical fault at the Guddu power plant.
“It had what we call a ‘cascading effect’ and shut down the power system, choking about 10,320 megawatts of electricity,” he said.
He is still unknown from the fact that what exactly caused massive drop in the system. “Our teams are working to pinpoint the cause of the sudden drop in frequency,” Information Minister Shibli Faraz said that the transmission system was very and blamed the previous governments for neglecting and not fixing it.
