How can one live in India and not visit the Hindu Shrine of Vaishno Devi. Well at the moment, bone-chilling weather has entrapped the place. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to affect hilly region for rest of the January.
Rain and snowfall has been recorded during the last 24 hours in the hilly shrine. This is the result of active passage of Western Disturbances across Jammu and Kashmir. This is making it difficult for the devotees to carry on with the pilgrimage.
The maximum temperatures are settling below normal by 4-7 degrees, causing severe cold day conditions. Maximum temperature was recorded at 10.1°C at Katra and14°C at Jammu. Intensity of rain is expected to decrease in last 24 hours. The situation is expected to continue even in the initial week of February as well.
