Akhilesh Yadav’s political agendas behind striding away from his father have produced undesirable effect as he received the distinction of being vanquished in BJP’s biggest ever win in one of themost important states of India. The BJP, led by PM Modi is placed to win more than 300 seats out of 400 and Akhilesh Yadav had accrued 48, with his junior partner, the Congress.
Muddling with the Congress has turned out to be a chosen error. While Mulayam Singh, 77, was firm in his agenda that collaboration with any party is not good for their party, Akhilesh Yadav felt differently. Congress entered when the family feud had almost disturbed Akhilesh Yadav and so the decision of collaboration was made, but, did not really prove fruitful.
Congress got 105 seats which probably came as a result of the focus of the Samajwadi-Congress on the Muslims and the Yadavs which drove a consolidation of the Hindu vote for the BJP.
Now that the alliance has been proven havoc, Mr Akhilesh Yadav had spoken of returning the post of President, which he seized with the support of thousands of party delegates, to Mulayam Singh. He was being caricatured as the clean, young politician trying to purge over-the-hill leaders and unhesitant about mingling with criminals and dons for political gain. His feud with father, Mulayam Singh was already enough to disturb him but life always has unwelcomed surprises.
His promises of development of world-class highways, focusing on education for the youth definitely entertained the public but the bicycle has probably got a driver whose credibility is now being questioned. The driver of change and progress, the driver of bicycle is badly injured and will probably take the back- seat now giving a chance to Mulayam Singh.
