Dharamshala has been declared the second capital of the state by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Thursday. Dharamshala’s significance and history has made it a deserving candidate.
Dharamshala is located in Himachal’s Dhauladhar range. The city held its importance and value in lower areas of the state such as Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangra and Una districts.
Mr Singh also said that the city attracts people and added that tourism had changed the town’s fortune. Dharamshala is next to Shimla in the state, politically. Virbhadra Singh also said, “A full-fledged Winter Session of the Vidhan Sabha was held for the first time outside Shimla in December 2005.”
