New Delhi:  Writer Preeti Shenoy was honoured with the Indian of the Year award at a function here.

Shenoy, who is one of India's top five highest selling women authors, was awarded on Friday by Brands Academy, one of the most reputed branding companies in India to recognise the achievements of personalities who have contributed towards building up the reputation of the country.

The award ceremony also focused on celebrating the achievements of leaders from all walks of life. All awardees have in their own way contributed towards the growth and development of the nation, the organisers said.

"It has come as a total surprise. I am honoured and humbled at the same time. I was buried in writing my ninth book, when I got the news. It took a couple of hours to even sink in, as I had to extricate myself from the world I created in my book, and crash land into the real world," Shenoy said.

"When it finally registered what a big award this is, I quickly looked at how many hours it would take away from my writing time! Jokes apart, I thank Brands Academy for the award, and a big thank you to my publishers who have put their trust in my writing, and my readers who shower me with love."

Shenoy's books include "It's All In The Planets", "Why We Love The Way We Do", "It Happens For A Reason", "The One You Cannot Have" and "34 Bubblegums And Candies" among others.

Other prominent winners along with Shenoy included Deepa Malik (Paralympics Gold Winner), Kavita Krishnamurty (Singer) and Ranveer Brar (Celebrity Chef and TV Host).

Once in a lifetime we all have gone through problems which seem to be too big to handle or life changing but with the passage of time and thoughts, we seem to look back and laugh; is that the same situation I have been through but that wasn't to be frighten off, I must have done this or that. And then few of us realises that what we need to focus at that time was different then what we were focusing on.

There are many books out there to read, which will suggest you many ways to change your life, attitudes and your lifestyle but they are not worth reading or applying until and unless you have  a reason to change, a strong reason to know why you need that particular lifestyle or attitude.

With every turning point of life, a person's mind set is important how he/she will lead his/her upcoming life. With everything running so fast that you can't disturb them And with everything changing in seconds we need "The need of hour"  which is very simple

1-Just sit back and relax.

2-Notice everything happening and learn.

3-React to none until you are being targeted.

4-Polish your skills.

5-Don't try to jump on everything you find suitable.

6-The last and most important thing don't take someone's actions to become your reactions.

Leave your comments below to share what have been your "need of hour" or practice from above points that you already follow or tries to follow, to tackle a worst situation you have been through.
Wasn't that learning?

There are people who love reading novels but did you know that novels are not a pile of mere a romantic, horror or suspense story? In fact a novel can tell you all about the age from politics to a small family’s condition. Here are some tips that could help you explore another world hidden within a literature piece:-

  • No one meaning: - Stop focussing on chronological events occurring in the book and just learn that there can be many contrary interpretations of one single line.
  • Connect with the author: - It’s good to know (not cram)the biographical details of the author so that you connect the events in the novel with author’s own life and his intentions of writing the book.
  • The psychological reading: - It is a trick played by the author to make his/her readers struggle to get the emotional insight of the characters in the novel. Take the character as a real body of flesh and blood and you will then be emotionally connected to the sentiments that author want to call for.
  • The setting: - Have a look over the setting of the events because nothing in literature is written for just filling up the pages. Setting may hint at insight of the characters playing.
  • Question the author: - Never get swayed away with what the author displays. Be a smart reader and question the readers on moral, ethical and political grounds.
  • Reading Critics: - This is not a good idea always but to know other perspectives and interpretations, critics can be helpful.
  • Reading author’s interviews: - What better than the author himself voicing his intentions? His intentions might be questionable but knowing it at first hand might be useful.

So explore the world of literature and Happy Reading!!!
