New Delhi: Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui's "Monsoon Shootout" will release in December after a four year wait, the producer said.

"For almost a year we were travelling across festivals with the film and then we wanted to wait and release the film when we felt the time was right.

"We had a successful release of 'Haraamkhor' earlier this year and 2017 has proven to be a year when good content films were being accepted. So we feel now is the best time to release the film," producer Guneet Monga said in a statement.

Monga and her production house Sikhya Entertainment is known for producing content-driven films like "Masaan" and "Lunchbox", apart from "Haraamkhor".

"Monsoon Shootout" is a crime thriller film starring Nawazuddin, Vijay Verma and Tannishtha Chatterjee.

This film is about a policeman facing a life-altering decision when he must decide to shoot or not.

It is directed by Amit Kumar, who earlier made an award-winning short film called "Bypass" with Nawazuddin and Irrfan Khan.

Nawazuddin had shot for "Monsoon Shootout" immediately after "Gangs Of Wasseypur".

New Delhi: Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui on Monday apologised and announced that he is withdrawing his book "An Ordinary Life" after a complaint was reportedly filed against him for outraging the modesty of his "Miss Lovely" co-star Niharika Singh.

"I am apologising to everyone who's sentiments are hurt because of the chaos around my memoir 'An Ordinary Life'. I hereby regret and decide to withdraw my book," Nawazuddin posted on Twitter.

According to reports, the complaint was filed by Delhi advocate Gautam Gulati at the National Commission for Women (NCW).

Last week, Niharika slammed Nawazuddin for not taking her consent before sharing their personal equation with the world in his memoir. She said the way he has "painted" her image, it appears he doesn't mind disrespecting a woman to boost the sales of his book.

"Nawaz and I had a brief relationship in 2009 during the making of 'Miss Lovely' that lasted less than a few months. So today, when he paints me as a woman in fur enticing him into her bedroom with candles, or desperately calling him and mailing other women on his behalf, I can only laugh.

"He obviously wants to sell his book and it would appear that he is willing to exploit and disrespect a woman just to do so," Niharika said.

Excerpts from "An Ordinary Life" (Penguin Random House/pp 240/Rs 389), a memoir that Nawazuddin has come out with Rituparna Chatterjee, reveal that the National Award winning actor has spoken extensively on his personal life and relationships.

New Delhi: Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, a huge fan of his "Mom" co-star Sridevi, says if given a chance to feature in a remake of any of her past films, it would have to be "Mr. India".

In an interview to IANS here, Nawazuddin was asked which character would he like to play in a remake of any of Sridevi's movies.

He said: "There are many movies of Sridevi which I love, like 'Lamhe', 'Chandani', 'Mr. India', 'English Vinglish'... But I would love to play the role of Mr. India in the remake of the film," Nawazuddin said.

"Mr. India", directed by Shekhar Kapur, told the tale of a poor but big-hearted man who takes orphans into his home. After discovering his scientist father's invisibility device, he rises to the occasion and fights to save his children and all of India from the clutches of a villain.

Anil Kapoor famously played Arun Verma aka Mr. India in the movie, and Nawazuddin wants to step into his shoes.

The film was produced by Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor.

There has been much talk around a "Mr. India" sequel over the past few years.

Asked about it, Sridevi said: "Aisa kuch nahi hai (There's nothing like that). People come and ask us when 'Mr. India 2' is going to start. Seeing their enthusiasm, their keenness, we definitely thought we will make a part two... But it's too early to talk about it as there is nothing right now."
