Stoinis Century Goes Useless, As New Zealand Crushed Australia

New Zealand defeated Australia by 6 runs in first ODI at Auckland on Monday. Australia all - rounder Marcus Stoinis scored not out brilliant century 146 runs in 126 balls with 9 fours and 11 six. This was Stoinis maiden ODI century.

Earlier Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to bowl. New Zealand wicket keeper batsman Tom Latham ( 10 runs ) got out earlier by birthday boy Mitchell Starc while another opener Martin Guptill scored a half century ( 61 runs ). New Zealand captain Kane Williamson ( 24 runs )also got out earlier and batsman Ross Taylor ( 16 runs ) also tried to spend some time in wicket but he got out by Travis Head. After that New Zealand all rounder Jeeme Neesham ( 48 runs ) and batsman Neil Broom ( 73 runs ) played brilliantly and stood 76 runs partnership for 6th wicket to help Kiwis to score over 200. New Zealand build 286/9 runs on the scoreboard.

Australia all - rounder Marcus Stoinis took 3 wickets in 10 overs.

In reply Australia started their innings very badly. Their top order batsman Captain Aaron Finch ( 4 runs ) , Travis Head ( 5 runs )and Shaun Marsh ( 16 runs ) fell down very early while Explosive batsman Glenn Maxwell only managed to add 20 runs in Aussies score board. Australia were 67/6 after that Marcus Stoinis and James Faulkner ( 25 runs ) stood 81 runs partnership for seventh wicket and tried to pull back things for Australia. After Faulkner dismissal, Stoinis shared a 36 runs partnership with seamer Pat Cummins for eighth wicket. Stoinis also stands 54 runs  partnership with bowler Josh Hazelwood  for last wicket.

New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner took 3 wickets.

Australia all rounder Marcus Stoinis was awarded with Man of the match for his all round performance.

These two teams will face each other again in Mc Lean Park, Napier on February 02, Thursday.
