Australia captain Steve Smith is sidelined from upcoming tour against New Zealand because of ankle injury.
While vice - captain David Warner is already unavailable in this series, Australia will look for a new captain.
Smith got injured during Australia final ODI against Pakistan on Thursday.
Sports Science and Sports Medicine manager, Alex Kountouris said " Steve injured his left ankle in the fielding innings of last night's ODI." He came off the field and had his ankle strapped and was able to return to the field for the remainder of the match".
Australian captain Steve Smith said " It's bit of a shock. I just landed really awkwardly on my foot and I felt something straight away. I was a little bit concerned, I've never really injured my ankle like that. I was in a bit of pain last night, I injured it and want off and got it strapped and looked at and was in a reasonable amount of pain in the field".
The first ODI between these two team is in Auckland on Monday.
