R Ashwin Could Not Stand Up Straight On Day 5 Sydney Test
New Delhi: All rounder Ravichandran Ashwin was in immense pain on Sunday night and even could not stand up straight, when he woke up on Monday morning on the final day of the third Test against Australia.
Despite of this all, Ashwin along with Hanuma Vihari, showed great grit and resilience to help India secure a famous draw at the Sydney Cricket Match.
Chasing target of 407, India reached 334/5 batting for 131 overs before both the teams decided to shake hands on the final day of the Test match.
Ashwin scored unbeaten 39 runs from the 128 deliveries he faced and along with an injured Vihari, he shared an unbeaten 62-run partnership, batting for more than 40 overs.
R Ashwin’s wife, Prithi Ashwin has revealed that the Indian off-spinner was in a lot of back pain and couldn’t stand up. She wrote, “The man went to bed last night with a terrible back tweak and in unbelievable pain. He could not stand up straight when he woke up this morning. Could not bend down to tie his shoelaces. I am amazed at what @ashwinravi99 pulled off today.”
To reiterate @ashwinravi99 bowled 19 overs on Day 4 with discomfort in his back, woke up worse for wear, kept standing in the dressing-room till the time he walked out to bat, spent the tea-break on his feet, then batted another full session to save the day. Just Special #AUSvIND

Ashwin reacted to his wife's tweet and in response, the cricketer thanked her for being with him through this hard journey. Ashwin batted for over two hours to save the match for India.
