Singer Sonu Nigam shaved his head in Mumbai as he promised in his tweet, as he addressed to the press earlier. He said, "Shaving hair is no challenge or negativity, it's a symbolic move - asking, what are you making this country? What are these fatwas?" as he was referring to the Muslim Priest offering a reward of Rs. 10 Lakhs for the person who shaves Sonu Nigam head and garland him with old shoes.
As he tweeted in the morning that he would have shaved his head keeping in mind about the Rs. 10 Lakhs to keep ready. Aalim is a Muslim the Barber who did the honour. Aalim spoke to the press, "Sonu Nigam has been the focal point of a raging debate after he tweeted on Monday about being woken by the early morning Azaan and called it 'gundagardi.' he said.
The tweet of his was objected to the use of loudspeaker in the early morning called to prayer for which he said, "I consider myself secular, neither am I right wing or left wing and there are very few people like me, I am actually the minority community," Sonu Nigam further added, "It is a social topic, not a religious one."
The term he used was ‘Gundagardi’ in one of his tweets. The religious passion in which the people dance in roads and push others out of the way is also ‘Gundagardi.’ Said by Sonu Nigam
Sonu Nigam added, calling for greater tolerance. "I don't want to be misunderstood," he stated about why he was addressing the press.
