Siachen courageous Lance Naik Hanamanthappa awarded Sena medal

Siachen courageous Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad was awarded with Sena Medal on Sunday in New Delhi.

Confer as the 'Miracle Man' the Soldier had rescued to live for six days in Minus 45 degrees Celsius temperature, entombed under ice and snow after a heavy Avalanche smacked soldiers post on February 3, 2016.

The brave Soldier's wife Mahadevi Ashok Bilebal is honoured with the medal from Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat at Army Day parade in New Delhi yesterday.

Including Hanamanthappa, 10 Army personnel were entombed alive on February - 3 in Siachen, the world's higest battleground. Hanamanthappa was found alive entombed under heavy snow in critical condition.

The Soldier was flown down to Delhi's Army Referral and Research Hospital for healing where he died on February - 11 - 2016 because of multiple organ failure.
