15 coaches of the Sealdah- Ajmer Exprss train derailed near Rura Railway Station in Kanpur dehat district on Wednesday and around 44 people got injured.
The ministry of railways said in a tweet that this incident took place about 5:20am near Rura railway station, 50km from Kanpur.This is the second train accident reported in Uttar Pradesh within two months.
A railway official said that when the train, 12987 Sealdah-Ajmer express, was crossing a bridge over a dry canal in the area, fifteen coaches got derailed from the track.
A railway spokesperson Anil Saxena said that passengers have been rescued and alternate arrangements are being made for those who want to continue their journey. Mr. Anil Saxena said that the first 5 and last 3 coaches were intact and 15 coaches got derailed according to preliminary reports. The reason for this was dense fog in the morning as stated by Mr. Saxena.
14 ambulances and relief teams from Kanpur and Tundla have been dispatched by the District Health department.
