Reliance Jio and PayTm Regret For Using Prime Minister Photo Without Permission

Reliance Jio bought by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, and PayTm, endowed by Vijay Shekar, have apologised for using pictures of PM Narendra Modi in advertisement without the government's permission.

The two companies had been sent notices asking them to disclose why they ignored guidelines that ban employing the Prime Minister's and photo for commercial gain.

pm-modi_650x4001489145342Last year (in September), Reliance Jio, the new telecom in the country, had through its advertisement, committed its 4G service to the Modi government's flagship Digital India project. Full Page "Reliance Jio: Digital Life" ads were published with a photo of Mr Modi.

Suddenly, in November, when the Prime Minister abruptly declared the abolition of high-denomination notes, PayTm ran similar advertisement welcoming the move which led to an urgent surge in digital wallets like the one that PayTm and lesser players like Mobikwik provide.
