A new demand came up in continuation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's move against Black Money. This demand came up with the names of senior BJP leader LK Advani, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Home Minister Rajnath Singh who according to Ms Banerjee can replace Mr Modi as the PM of country. She suggested that Mr Modi should quit and make way for a "national government" to be headed by one of these people.
The Chief Minister is already very furious due to the arrest of her party lawmakers in a ponzi scam and has now suggested that President Pranab Mukherjee shall step in and "save the country from Narendra Modi". She added that all opposition parties should unite and come together to save the nation.
President Pranab Mukherjee said that the decision of demonetisation announced on November 8 could lead to a temporary economic slowdown. Ms Banerjee has praised this statement of the President and said that she has never seen such a “vindictive government” at the Centre which has broken age-old institutions like the Planning Commission and others.
She claimed that the ban of old currency had led to a loss of Rs. 5,500 crore to her state. Ms Banerjee called the arrests of her party lawmakers as "Trinamool-bandi after note-bandi" and said that these arrests are a part of Centre’s act of revenge for her aggressive campaign against the notes ban.
