Anushka Sharma is back in the game of production after one year. Phillauri is her’s second venture as a producer after ‘NH 10’ in 2015. Anushka’s Phillauri has already recovered its half cost. The satellite and music record are sold at a price of Rs.12 crore. Phillauri is made at a budget of Rs21 crore reported by news agency IANS. The makers of the film told IANS "happy it has turned out to be a profitable venture". Phillauri stars Anushka Sharma as ghost named Shasi. First half of the movie is based on Diljit Dosanjh and Anushka Sharma love story. In the second half of the movie Shasi, the ghost start haunting Suraj Sharma, an NRI who get married to a tree as he is a ‘manglik’. Shasi, the ghost, is stuck in that tree.
"The film's cost was absolutely correct and with us recovering Rs 12 crore already from satellite and music before the release of the film Phillauri is a profitable venture. We are now eager to see the reaction of audiences and we are hopeful that they will embrace the film," IANS quoted Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios as saying.
Anushka is promoting the film in very interesting and in a cute friendly way. Phillauri’s last promotion stop was at house of Shah Rukh Khan Mannat.
Phillauri is directed by debutant Anshai Lal. It is co-produced by Anushka and her brother Karnesh Sharma under their banner Clean Slate Films.
Set in Phillaur, Punjab, Phillauri is going to release this week on 24th March 2017.
