Mumbai-Goa Tracks Go One-Up On Flights: Coffee On Tap, TV, Scenery

On the tracks a flight like experience, the new luxurious train Tejas Express this is what’s new, unveiled this morning and it has to offer.

 

 

 

The Superfast Tejas Express will redefine the rail travel from Mumbai to Goa with the fancy LHB coach’s fitter with LED screens, coffee vending machines and WiFi connectivity among other things. From Monday onwards it will be flagged off by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.

 

 

 

 

Not only the lavish setup but also the ticket fares of the train will be cheaper than the flights. But the fares will be higher than Shitabdi Express, might be 20% higher.

 

 

 

 

The speed of the train can run at 200 kmph with ultra-modern amenties like onboard infotainment, Wi-Fi, CCTV, Fire and Smoke detection facilities, CCTV cameras for security. The modern air-conditioned train will aim to attract tourists travelling between Mumbai and Goa.

 

 

 

 

The General Manager DK Sharma of Central Railway said to NDTV that, "This Tejas will take rail travel to a different level altogether. This is a first of its kind on Indian Railway. It will be game changer and we want people to have a different experience and feelings and we are blessed that PM Modi and Rail minister have decided to start from Mumbai."

 

 

 

 

 

The Tejas will have 13 coaches and also includes one executive coach. The Rail Coach Factory (RCF) General Manager RP Nibaria said the cost of each coach is Rs. 3.25 crore.

 

 

 

 

In the train in every coach there will be a LCD screens which will display the entertainment options and for help there will be a button for call to summon attendants.

 

 

 

 

Further DK Sharma added by saying that, "It is better than air travel. When you travel by flight you don't see anything outside. But here you have beautiful surroundings as you will be passing through the beautiful Konkan region."

 

 

 

 
On Indian Railways Tejas Express will be introduced for the first time. The Tejas will run from Mumbai and Karmali in Goa for about 5 days in week. For three days in a monsoon it will run.

 

 

 

From Next week’s Tuesday the regular service of the Tejas will start. At Dadar, Panvel, Thane, Kudal and Ratnagiri the train will stop on the way to Goa.

 

 

 

 

 

The Railway has also announced to run Tejas Express on Delhi-Chandigarh and Surat-Mumbai sections also.
