Half centuries by all-rounder Yusuf Pathan and middle-order batsman Manish Pandey enabled Kolkata Knight Riders [KKR] overcome early jitters en route a thrilling four-wicket victory over Delhi Daredevils [DD] in an Indian Premier League [IPL] season-10 game on Monday. It was a team effort by Kolkata, who first rode on spinner Sunil Narine and pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile controlled bowling effort to restrict the home side to 168 for seven, and then Pathan (59) and Pandey (69 not out) anchored the chase to perfection as they won with a ball to spare.It went down to the wire in the end with Kolkata needing nine runs from the last over. The first two balls from Amit Mishra resulted in dots as well as a wicket.
In the begnning, the host reached a decent total riding on a late cameo by wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant even as Coulter-Nile and Narine managed to restrict Delhi with their superb bowling.
Off to a blazing start after opting to bat,inform pair Sanju Samson and Sam Billings laid a solid platform for Delhi Daredevils with a quick 53-run opening stand but after the two got dismissed, the visitors bowlers led by Coulter-Nile dominated the middle overs to put a leash on the increasing run-rate.
But it was the young Risabh Pant, who hammered 38 off 16 balls to take the team past 160-run mark.
