Tamil Nadu Back-Pedal Full Occupancy In Movie Theatres After Centre's Objection
New Delhi: Tamil Nadu has canceled 100 percent occupancy in movie theatres today after the Centre objected to it and asked the state to scrap the order.
The Tamil Nadu government had lifted the restriction on movie theatres last week.
So far the Union home ministry has allowed 50 percent occupancy in movie theatre outside containment zones as part of the phased unlock process.
On Monday Tamil Nadu has increased the seating capacity of cinemas, theatres, multiplexes from existing 50 percent to 100 percent following COVID-19 protocols.
The central government had asked for this provision to be scrapped the next day.
The state government however had granted permission to cinema halls to reopen with 50 percent seating capacity from November 10.
Many actors like Vijay requested the government to allow 100 percent capacity before the festival of Pongal, news agency ANI reported
