New Delhi: An unexpected company was experienced by thousands of woman holding a protest in Shaheen Bagh against the citizenship law. A group of Sikh men, who are a part of a farmer's union and came all the way from Punjab.Sikh men turned up on the road, unpacked their utensils and within an hour, a langar was running.
"We have come here to show solidarity against the citizenship bill," one of the sikh, emphasizing that they were against the "divisive politics" of the government.
He added, "Modi wants to rule by making people fight with each other. He is not giving jobs to farmers, instead he is making the Muslims and Sikhs fight."
The Shaheen Bagh protest has been for more than a month, has made it to headlines. It is the women of India, irrespective of religion and caste, who are driving this protest, taking turns to sit in at the locality. Some women come in the morning, while others sit through the chilly and bitter nights.
This protest has provided inspiration to many woman across the country and similar protest have been started in the parts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Protest have also been spread in other parts of nation, such as, Patna, Lucknow and Prayagraj, where women claims that they would continue till the government withdrew their initiative of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) or National Register of Citizens (NRC).
People who came to cheer the women, said they belong to two districts of punjab and teh women of their family have also accompanied them.
As soon as men started cooking, the women of their families found a space on the other corner and sat with the thousands of other women on a protest.
Langar basically includes vegetarian food, liek Roti, Dal, Vegetables and a dessert usually Kheer.
One of the person from the group said, In the coming days, they are expecting more people from Punjab to come and join.
