Ahead Of Covid Vaccine Roll Out, Second Dry Run To Take Place On Friday

New Delhi: A second dry run for COVID-19 vaccination will be held in all the states on Friday, said sources. The first dry run was held on January 2. Centre checked the best possible way to vaccinate people against COVID-19.

The day-long drive on Friday will again test functionality of CoWIN application. Short for Covid Vaccine Intelligence Network, CoWIN is a digital platform to roll out and scale up the vaccination drive.

Government has revealed that vaccination for COVID-19 would start in the duration of 10 days. India has cleared 2 vaccines already, Oxford-AstraZeneca's Covishield manufactured by the Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech's Covaxin.

The government has been preparing for the vaccine making for the past four months, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said last week.

The government has set up groups who will get the vaccination very first, which includes doctors, healthcare workers, police who were engaged in the fight with COVID-19.

Apart from Covishield and Covaxin, a DNA vaccine is being prep up by Zydus Cadila. This vaccine has been granted approval to go with phase 3 trial while vaccine in making Biological E candidate is still in phase 1 of trial basis.
