Punjab CM Amarinder Singh Meet Navjot Sidhu Over Lunch, Triggers Speculation Of MLA's Reinduction Into Cabinet
New Delhi: On Wednesday Punjab CM Amarinder Singh met Navjot Singh Sidhu over lunch, triggering speculation that he may be re-inducted into the state cabinet.
Both the leaders have been not on the best of terms since May last year when the CM accused the former cricketer of the "inept handling" of the Local Government Department, claiming it resulted in "poor performance" of the Congress in urban areas during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Mr. Sidhu who was a minister in Amarinder Singh's government has stepped down last year and had gone on a self-imposed exile.
Mr. Sidhu has been vocal about the farmer's protest and some of his criticism has been directed at his own party's government in the state.
Mr. Sidhu over the last month had avoided any criticism of the CM and even supported his march against the farm laws in Delhi.
Today's meeting between the two, held at Mr. Singh's official residence was "warm and cordial", where the two leaders spent a "pleasant hour" discussing a host of "important political matters of Punjab and national interest", the Chief Minister's media advisor said.
Mr. Sidhu though backed by Rahul Gandhi in the party has so far been unsatisfactory.
