P Chidambaram Jibes On The Government Says "insensitive and shortsighted" Leaders.
New Delhi: Congress leader P Chidambaram on Tuesday said Delhi people are paying the price of choosing "insensitive and shortsighted" leaders.
He said that the amendment to the Citizenship Amendment Act should be withdrawn as soon as possible and the government should listen to the people who are protesting to it and the reason behind their protest.
He suggested to keep CAA on hold and let the Supreme Court decision gives its judgment. 7 people including a head constable, Ratan Lal, were killed in the clash between anti-CAA and pro-CAA and around 50-70 people were injured in the process in North-East Delhi areas of Maujpur, Bhajanpura, Gokulpuri, Jaffrabad on Monday.
Infiltrators damaged public property, shops, petrol pumps and burned every vehicle that came on the way which resulted in an atmosphere of fear.
P Chidambaram condemned the whole incident that also resulted in the loss of life demanding the strongest criticism."The people are paying the price for putting in power insensitive and shortsighted leaders," he alleged. "India has lived with the Citizenship Act 1955 without the amendment. Why does the Act need an amendment now? The amendment (CAA) should be abandoned forthwith." he tweeted further.
कल दिल्ली में हुई हिंसा और जानमाल का नुकसान सबसे ज्यादा चौंकाने वाला है और इसकी कड़ी निंदा की जानी चाहिए।— P. Chidambaram (@PChidambaram_IN) February 25, 2020
— P. Chidambaram (@PChidambaram_IN) February 25, 2020
"Even now it is not too late. The government should listen to the voices of the anti-CAA protesters and declare that the CAA will be kept in abeyance until the Supreme Court pronounced on its validity," added Chidambaram.
He retweeted a pinned tweet which states, "Government is clueless and timid."
