New Delhi: On Monday Prime Minister Modi lit the customary first diya at the Raj Ghat in Varanasi and launched the Dev Deepawali Mahotsav.PM Modi was accompained by the state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the ceremony.
Around 15 lakh diyas lit up on the ghats of Ganga to mark the beginning of the celebrations on the occasion of Kartik Purnima. Classical dancers performed during the occasion. Dev Deepawali is the function after Deepawali when a large number of lamps are lit on the bank of rivers and other places on Kartik Purnima.
PM Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached Raj Ghat for Dev Deepawali Mahostav after offering prayers at Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. Also, they visited the site of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Corridor Project.
The ghats of Varanasi were decorated in view of PM Modi's visit. On the occasion of Dev Deepawali, lightning of lamps and cultural programmes were organized at 15 Ghats of Ganga River in Varanasi. Also a laser show was also organized on this occasion
