New Record Says Aviation Minister As Domestic Passenger Traffic Reaches 2.73 Lakh
New Delhi: Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri tweeted revealing the record of 2.73 lakh crossed India on Sunday, since domestic flights resume to take off in May from Last year 2020. He further added that travellers are now considering flying as chosen mode of transport.
“2.73,845 passengers on 2,179 flights yesterday is a new record since the resumption of domestic flights on May 25, 2020. This brings us even closer to the pre-COVID numbers. The flight has become the chosen mode of transport that offers efficiency, safety and predictability, “ Puri tweeted.
2,73,845 passengers on 2,179 flights yesterday is a new high since domestic flights resumed on 25 May 2020. This takes us even closer to the Pre-COVID numbers. Flying has emerged as the chosen mode of transport which offers efficiency, safety & predictability. pic.twitter.com/AcJp51RGkN

He at while tweeted: “Our airports and skies are busy again. The number of daily domestic passengers has crossed the 252 km mark, a new high since the resumption of operations on May 25, 2020. We expect to cross the pre-COVID figures at the end of the year. Aviation is fast becoming India’s safe and efficient mode of transportation in these times. “
The national civil aviation sector is expected to return to normal within the next two to three months, according to Civil Aviation Secretary Pradeep Singh Kharola.
The ministry had resumed scheduled domestic passenger services from May 25, after a gap of two months due to the coronavirus lockdown.
The airlines were allowed to take off not more than 33 per cent of their pre-COVID domestic flights. On June 26, this was increased to 45 per cent and on September 2, it was further increased to 60 per cent. On November 11, it was increased to 70 per cent. (Inputs From Agency)
