New Delhi Municipal Council Forms Rapid Response Team For Inspections After Bird Flu Confirmed

New Delhi: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Monday formed a response team for inspection of various birds in its areas amid bird flu outbreak in Delhi.

National Capital on Monday confirmed bird flu cases after eight samples sent to a Bhopal-based laboratory tested positive for avian influenza.

8 samples were from a park in Mayur Vihar Phase 3, 3 from Sanjay Lake and 1 from Dwarka, have been found positive for avian influenza, Dr Rakesh Singh, animal husbandry of the Development Department said.

"In the wake of avian influenza, a rapid response team has been formed to carry out the field inspection to examine various birds in NDMC area especially chickens, ducks and other migratory birds. The inspection report has been sought on weekly basis," said Ramesh Kumar, Health Office, NDMC

The havoc of bird flu had surrounded the city last week when over 100 crows were found dead at parks in Mayur Vihar-3, Hastsal and Dwarka areas.

The poultry market in Ghazipur has also been shut down temporarily. (Inputs From PTI)
