New Delhi: After having talks, both India and China had called for "complete disengagement" of troops in eastern Ladakh for "full restoration" of peace and tranquillity along the Line of Actual Control. The step comes after the representatives from both sides discussed the tension on the border.
The Ministry of External Affairs had said that the diplomatic talks had been conducted under the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC). Many appeals and tries have been made to reduce the tension on the border, after the altercation between the two forces martyred 20 Indian soldiers.
The ministry had also announced that both India and China had made sure and agreed to a complete disengagement of the troops along the Line of Actual Control for "full restoration" of peace.
"They also agreed that for the overall development of bilateral relations it was essential to maintain enduring peace and tranquillity in the border areas," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The Joint Secretary (East Asia) in the Ministry of External Affairs had led the Indian side while the Director-General of the Boundary and Oceanic Department in China's foreign ministry had represented China.
"They reviewed the situation in the India-China border areas including the progress made in ongoing disengagement process along the LAC in the Western Sector," the Ministry of External Affairs said.

Both India and China, according to the ministry, had agreed to sincerely implement the understandings reached between senior commanders.
For the last eight weeks, the military of India and China had engaged in a standoff in eastern Ladakh. The tensions between the two-nation had escalated when an altercation between the two-nation martyred 20 Indian soldiers. The altercation took place on June 15, in Galwan Valley and the casualty of the Chinese side is yet to be confirmed.
After talks, both sides have held several rounds of diplomatic and military talks in the last few weeks to ease tension in the region.
Ajit Doval, the National Security Advisor of India had a telephonic conversation with one of China's top diplomats, Wang Yi. Briefs from both the countries had reported that the two engaged in "a frank and in-depth exchange of views" on Sunday regarding the border.
According to New Delhi's note, it was also said that India and China had agreed to follow the preexisting Line of Actual Control (LAC) reflecting positions along the contested section of the border. However, Beijing's note didn't mention any such thing.
