Delhi: Man Goes Missing From Airport On Returned From Kazakhstan, Traced To Ghaziabad, Quarantine
New Delhi: A 72-year-old man, who went missing from the Indira Gandhi International(IGI) airport on his arrival from Kazakhastan, was traced in Ghaziabad and sent to his home under home quarantine, said the police on Sunday.
Harjeet Singh, a resident of Dilshad Garden, arrived Delhi on flight number AI 1916 from Almaty in Kazakhstan on Saturday and went missing from the entry gate of the screening hall at T3 of the IGI airport, they said.
The matter came to notice after police said that they received the information from the Sub Divisional Magistrate that Singh went missing from the entry gate of the screening hall at Terminal 3 of IGI airport.
They said Singh deliberately missed out on the screening procedure through which he was to be institutionally quarantined as the MHA guidelines.
A case was registered in this regard under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Epidemic Act, a senior police officer said.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the mobile number and the address given by the passenger on the arrival was not found to be in use. The officer said that in CCTV footage the vehicles in which he left the airport were identified.
In the past 24 hours, the number of COVID-19 patients in India is increased by 19,459, taking the tally to 5,48,318, as per the data released by the Union Health Ministry today morning. In the last 24 hours as per the data 380 fatalities reported as the toll increased to 16,475.
The number of active cases stands at 2,10,120 while 3,21,722 people have recovered. Whereas the recovery rate stands at 58.67%.
