Delhi Govt Announces 7-Day Institutional Quarantine For Those Arriving From UK
New Delhi: A 7-day institutional quarantine will be mandatory for those arriving in Delhi from Britain and testing negative for coronavirus, announced CM Arvind Kejriwal today as flights between India and UK resumed today.
Then the passenger will have to home quarantine for seven more days.
Whereas there will be an option for paid quarantine or an unpaid government quarantine for the passenger. The Health Ministry had said that 14 days home quarantine for ones UK passengers who test negative.
An Air India flight from the UK landed in Delhi this morning with close to 250 passengers amid concern about the mutant fast-spreading strain of the coronavirus that emerged in that country.
The government had suspended services between two countries on December 23 over the new strain of the virus. Many major European countries like France, Spain, and Germany have extended the ban.

"To protect Delhiites from exposure to the virus from the UK, Delhi government takes important decisions. All those arriving from the UK, who test positive will be isolated in an isolation facility. Negative ones will be taken to a quarantine facility for seven days followed by 7 days home quarantine," Arvind Kejriwal tweeted.
"The Centre has decided to lift the ban and start UK flights. In view of the extremely serious situation in UK, I would urge the central government to extend the ban till January 31," Mr. Kejriwal had tweeted.
With great difficulty, people have brought COVID situation under control. UK's COVID situation is very serious. Now, why to lift the ban and expose our people to risk?" the chief minister said.
Whereas in Delhi 13 people have tested positive for the new coronavirus variant.
The new SOP released by the government for passengers from the UK requires them to take a self-paid COVID-19 test on arrival. The passengers also gave to carry COVID-19 negative reports from the test done 72 hours before their journey
