Delhi Chalo Protest: Farmers Stays Camped On Delhi Border, Few Taken For Protest Site In Delhi|Updates

New Delhi: A large number of farmers are still camping around the Delhi border despite the ground being allocated to them in the capital's outskirts to hold their protest against the farm laws that they want to be repealed.

The protesters who have braved water cannon, tear gas, and lathi-charge during their agitation have said that they have enough essentials to continue their protest for up to six months. At least three highways that lead to Delhi remained blocked amid the protest.

Big Updates in the story:

1- A group of farmers, walking with the tractor carrying food and essential supplies had been trying to enter Delhi from many points, defying the barricades.

2- While the Tikri border(that leads from Delhi to Bahadurgarh ) was opened for the farmers to enter the national capital, the situation remains tense in the Singhu border near the other Delhi's Narela. At least three highways that lead to Delhi remain blocked amid the protest.

3- We've got food rations for six months. We'll go back after getting rid of the black agriculture laws which are against farmers," a protester at Singhu border was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

4- However a part of the protestors are campaigning on the ground in Burari near the capital's outskirts amid the heavy police presence. They say that their protests will continue till the farm law are taken back. "Our protest will continue till the Farm laws are not withdrawn. We are here for the long haul," a farmer was quoted as saying at Nirankari Samagam Ground in Burari, the site approved for protests.

5- Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal who has backed the farmer's protest is personally monitoring arrangment made in Burari, informed his party in a tweet.

6-Police officers have cited coronavirus rules to stop the protesters. "We will not endanger the residents of Delhi," said Delhi police officer Gaurav Sharma.

7- Yesterday Delhi Police's request to turn nine stadiums in the city into the makeshift "jails" to detain protesting farmers was rejected by the AAP government.

8- Meanwhile Union Agriculture Minister has requested farmers to end their protest."The government has always been ready to discuss issues with farmers. We have invited farmers' organizations for another round of talks on 3rd December. I appeal to them to leave agitation in view of COVID-19 and winter," Mr. Tomar told news agency ANI.

9- The centre has called farmers on December 3 for the second round of negotiation.The farmers for nearly three months have been up against laws which the Centre has called "historic reforms" in the farm sector.
