Bird Flu Confirmed In 9 States; 800 Chickens Dead In 48 hours In Maharashtra

New Delhi: National capital Delhi and Maharashtra have confirmed bird flu, other states like Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat had earlier confirmed Avian Influenza as the cause of the bird deaths from past few days. Parliamentary Standing Committee has summoned senior officials of the Ministry of Animal Husbandry to examine the availability of animal vaccines in the country, related to this meeting will take place at 3 pm on Monday.

Maharashtra's National Laboratory has confirmed that 800 chickens in Murumba village died due to bird flu. According to ANI, the blood samples sent to the laboratory has confirmed the avian influenza virus.

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying said that teams are formed for monitoring the spread of bird flu and are visiting the affected sites in seven states.

On January 8, the Centre said that bird flu has been confirmed so far in six states- Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Gujarat. 

The central government is requesting to build awareness among the public. States have been requested to increase hygiene around water bodies, bird markets, zoos, poultry farms.
