India-China Standoff: Indian Soldiers Involved With Chinese Accounted For, Says Army Sources
New Delhi: All Indian soldiers involved in the deadly clash with China at Galwan Valley in Ladakh on Monday are accounted for, said the army sources today. Twenty soldiers including a Colonel were killed in the line of duty.
Four more soldiers were reportedly critical after the fight, the worst in nearly five decades between the two countries. As per the army sources about 45 Chinese soldiers were also killed or injured, in the clashes that went on for several hours between hundreds of soldiers.
In the violent face-off which took place at nearly 15,000 feet up in the Himalayas near the freezing Galwan River, soldiers were attacked with iron rods, rocks wrapped with barbed wire, and nail-studded clubs. The soldiers were also thrown into the icy river.
The army hours after confirming that three soldiers including the Colonel were killed, said 17 more critically injured soldiers were "exposed to sub-zero temperatures" and died of their injuries.
The clash took place near the Line of Actual Control, the de-facto border between India and China, at a point called PP-14. The Satellite images showed a massive Chinese build-up on their side of the LAC. The troops from this area likely surged to India's area in the Galwan Valley
