New Delhi: Mumbai Police which is probing actor Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide, is supposed to record the statement of Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, said an official on late Thursday evening.
But no formal intimation has been sent to her yet, he added.
Ms Ranaut is currently at her Manali home, has been asked to appear before the Bandra police to record her statement.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his suburban Bandra apartment on June 14, to which the police claimed was a case of suicide. Mumbai Police during the initial investigation had found that the actor was under medication for depression.
After the death of the actor, Kangana Ranaut lashes out at cartels in Bollywood and nepotism, alleging that Mr. Rajput was its victim.
The actress' lawyer had confirmed to NDTV that Kangana had received summon from the police. He also said that they had told the police that the actress is in Manali since March 17 and has requested police to send a team to the state to interrogate her in person.
Recently in an interview with the Times of India, Kangana claimes that Ankita Lokaned her co-star in movie Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi said "could not take so much humiliation." She added Lokhande said Rajput was "exactly like" Ranaut in their demeanor. The only difference Lokhande said the actors had is that while Rajput "wanted to be accepted," Ranaut got over her urge for the same quickly.
Also Speaking about the criticisms that Kangana is using Rajput to fight her personal battles. Further, Kanaga asserted that "Yes, it is about Sushant, but it is also about my life because these people are still ganging up on me."
Mumbai Police on July 3 had tried to summon Rahanut back to the city and record her statement, said the police official. Kangana who is currently in Manali, may give her statement trough email said another police official as per the Firstpost reported.
Mumbai Police so far have recorded statements of over 36 people including Bollywood casting director Mukesh Chhabra, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, actress Sanjana Sanghi, film critic Rajeev Masand and Ssandip Singh, among others.
Sushant Singh Rajput's friend actor Rhea Chakraborty has also given her statement to the police.
As a part of their probe into Rajput's case police has also recorded the statement of three psychiatrists and psychotherapist, said the senior police official.
Their “statements were recorded over the last three-four days” by the Bandra police, which is probing the case, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IX) Abhishek Trimukhe.
The late actor was seeking these mental health professionals and their statements were recorded as part of the ongoing probe, said the police. As per the mental health professionals Rajput was undergoing treatment for depression since November 2019.
