In a CCTV footage, a girl is seen running with her hands shielding her head in an apartment complex in Noida near Delhi. In the CCTV clip a man chasing the girl shoots her at close range. After she collapsed, there were many more gunshots.
The girl was a young engineer named Anjali Ratour, she was found lying in pool of blood in the parking lot the very next morning with multiple bullet wounds. Her roommate identified her, who was on her way to the coaching classes.
An estranged boyfriend who had been calling Ms Ratour incessantly over the past few weeks is a suspect, says the police.
The suspect is identified to be Ashwani. A senior police officer says "We are looking for Ashwani”,referring to the man whom Ms Ratour had known from college.
Ms Ratour shared a third-floor apartment in the Shatabdi Rail Vihar Apartment Society with five friends. Ms Ratour's family is from Yamuna Nagar in Haryana.
On Wednesday morning, not long before she was shot, she had gone down after a phone call which is supposed to be from the same guy, the investigation suggested that she went to meet him in the parking area of the building. She had reportedly been avoiding Ashwani's phone calls for several weeks.
The shooter has not been identified yet as the CCTV at the main entrance of the complex was not working, the police said.
After completing an IT course from a college in Punjab, Ms Ratour started working in a company located in Noida, that is where she met Ashwani. He belong to Etawah in Uttar Pradesh.
The police have formed three teams to investigate the case and are questioning security guards of the society and her office colleagues. The investigation is under process.
