Sunrisers Hyderabad [SRH] Head coach Tom Moody declared that seamer Ashish Nehra is unfit to play for the remainder of this season of the Indian Premier League [IPL].
“Ashish Nehra won’t be fit for the remainder of the tournament,” Moody told media in an interaction ahead of their IPL eliminator battle between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders at Chinnaswamy stadium
The Former Sri Lanka coach also said that dynamic batsman Yuvraj Singh’s availability will be confirmed only after the batsman undergoes a fitness test on Tuesday. “Yuvraj will be undergoing a fitness test this evening. We will be giving him obviously the opportunity to prove his fitness,” Moody said.
The Indian pacer was forced off the field due to a hamstring strain during SRH’s league game versus Rising Pune Supergiant on May 6. SRH went on to lose that game by 12 runs.
The 38-year-old seamer has been crucial in the death overs for Hyderabad and has also been the man to bowl the first few overs for the side. Versus Kolkata, who have hard-hiting Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine as openers, Nehra’s absence will be felt by the Hyderabad.
The former Delhi Daredevils pacer has been injury-prone. He has featured in only 8 of the 17 matches last season, while this season he has played 6 out of 14.
The former Kings XI Punjab batsman Yuvraj Singh had sustained a finger injury during SRH’s game versus Mumbai Indians.Yuvraj has also been included in the Indian squad that travels to England to play in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in June.
