Dharamsala Test, March 28: Team India on Tuesday (28 March) defeated Australia by 8 wickets in the fourth and final Test to reclaim the Border-Gavaskar Trophy here.
Match Report :
India lifts the series 2-1 and thus bring a happy ending to the long home season and sit easily at the top of the table in ICC Test rankings.
With this convincing victory over Australia series was perhaps one of the best series of the home season as India and Australia gave each other a tough fight.
Both the teams competed with each other in every possible way both off and on-field. The series will also be remembered for its share of controversies, which sometimes overshadowed the match itself.
India's Winning Streak Continues :
It was the fourth occasion when India fight back to clinch a Test series after losing the first Test.
The Virat Kohli-led Indian team lost the first Test in Pune but went on to victory the Bengaluru Test, draw the Ranchi Test and again victory in Dharamsala to claim the series.
Earlier in 1972-73 India thrashed England after going down in the opening Test. They did it for the second time during 2000-01 Test series versus Australia and also during Test series against Sri Lanka in 2015.
With the series victory against Australia, India now have become only the third side to hold series titles versus all Test playing nations at the same point of time.
South Africa and Australia were the first two teams to have achieved this feat.
India Undefeated Against Australia At Home
With this victory, India have registered fourth consecutive Test series win against Australia at home.
India have defeated Australia in every series they have played so far after losing the 2004-05 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Australia's Poor Form Continues In Asian Soil :
Asia has always been a bone of contention for the Kangaroos. They lost 2012-13 series versus India, 2014-15 series against Pakistan in UAE followed by a white wash against Sri Lanka in 2016.
Umesh Yadav's Brilliant Performance In A Series
Seamer Umesh Yadav registered his best figures in a Test series by picking up 17 wickets against Aussies from four Tests.
The Kolkata Knight Riders pacer previous best was 14 wickets, that he achieved during the Border Gavaskar Trophy in 2011-12.
Rockstar Jadeja Equals Kohli
For his all-round performance in Dharamsala Test, the all-rounder was adjudged the man of the match in the fourth Test match.
Jadeja, thus, equalled his captain Virat Kohli who also got three man of the match awards in this home season.
However, the Gujrat Lions all-rounder got a man of the match award in all three major series i.e. versus New Zealand, England and now Australia.
The former Chennai Super Kings player made six 50-plus scores in the 2016-17 season, the southpaw now has number as Virat Kohli, Murali Vijay and KL Rahul.
Only middle-order batsman Cheteswar Pujara had made more such scores. The Saurashtra batsman has done it 12 times.

India spin wizard Ravichandran Ashwin finished this home season with 81 wickets and became the highest wicket-taker in a Test season.
Ashwin breaks South Africa seamer Dale Steyn's record of 78 wickets that he achieved during 2007-08 season.

With this victory against Australia Virat Kohli is yet to lose a Test series ever since he became a full time skipper. This is Kohli's 7th consecutive Test series victory as a captain.
His undefeated journey began from Sri Lanka (2015). Virat Kohli led his side to series victories versus South Africa (2015), West Indies (2016), England (2016), New Zealand (2016), Bangladesh (2017) and now Aussies.
