These rising numbers are worrisome and contradictory to the reopening of the economy, after weeks of complete lockdown which has shattered the economy due to pandemic.
The central government on Thursday announced new guidelines for the phased resumption of shopping malls, restaurants, hotels and religious places scheduled to open from June 8.
The new SOPs issued include measures like limited visitors to malls and prohibition on touching of idols at religious places.
However, all the containment zones will still remain closed as announced earlier.
Temperature screenings are mandating at entrances and using face-covering or masks are compulsory to wear at all times.
The health ministry also said that all the cinema halls, gaming arcades and children play areas in these establishments will continue to remain close.
According to the experts, the relaxations in the lockdown might lead to a sudden massive surge in the coronavirus cases in the country. However, due to the financial distresd in the country, the government is of view that people will have to learn to live with the virus.
