PM Modi Launches High Throughput COVID Testing Facilities, Says India's Situation Better Than Other Countries
New Delhi: PM Modi on Monday, July 27, inaugurated virtually the three high-end coronavirus testing labs in Noida, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan along with the CM of Maharashtra, WB, and UP took part in the event.
The three testing facilities have been strategically set up at ICMR-National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research, Noida, ICMR-National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health, Mumbai, and ICMR-National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, Kolkata.
The most important part of this big and long fight against coronavirus pandemic was that the corona-specific health infrastructure should be rapidly built in the country.
For this reason, the central government had announced a package of Rs 15,000 crore at the very beginning," PM Modi said in his address today.
The government has adopted the test track treat strategy for the early detection and containment of the coronavirus pandemic.
As per the PMO office, these facilities will ramp up the testing capacity in the country and will help in strengthening early detection and treatment, thus assisting in controlling the spread of the virus.
The labs are enabled to test diseases other than COVID as well. Post the pandemic, the labs will be able to test for Hepatitis B and C, HIV, TB and Dengue.
