India Reported 41,322 New COVID Cases,4% Lower Than Yesterday; 93.51 Lakh Total Cases So Far

New Delhi: On Friday India has reported 41,322 new coronavirus cases till today,4% lower than, taking its overall number to 93.51 lakh cases and 1,36,200 deaths, shows by the data of the Union Health Ministry.

These numbers come even as the vaccine to fight back the virus seemed tantalizingly close. The states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala were the most affected ones, with deaths ranging from 23 to 85 in the past 24 hours.

The national capital on Friday recorded 5,482 new cases and 98 deaths. The city's overall number of cases now stands at 5,56,744 with 8,909 deaths at a rate of 1.6%. Up to 64,455 tests were conducted across the city in the past 24 hours.

The fresh restriction to stop the spread of the coronavirus come into force today in Leh district of Ladakh Union Territory, prohibiting assembly of over four people and allowing only 50 percent staff to attend government offices, while vehicles will ply with only half their capacities.

On Friday Brazil reported 514 more deaths from the coronavirus raising the total number of deaths numbers to 171,974. Its accumulated caseload is now at 6,238,350. The country has the world's second-highest COVID-19 death figure after the US and the third-largest caseload after the US and India.
