In A First, 38,902 COVID Cases In India In 24 Hours, Shows Normal Life Still Far Away
New Delhi: India with the third-largest number of coronavirus in the world, recorded its highest 38,902 cases in the last 24 hours. According to the health ministry data, the number of death went up to 543.
Total positive cases stand at 10,77,618 including 3,73,379 active cases, 6,77,423 cured/discharged/migrated and 26,816 deaths.
The Indian Council of Medical Research said that 1,37,91,869 samples were tested for coronavirus upto 18th July, of which 3,58,127 were tested yesterday.
Worldwide the confirmed coronavirus cases have topped 14 million and deaths have surpassed 600,000, according to John Hopkins University data, day after the World Health Organisation reported a single-day record of new infection at over 237,000.
The experts also believe that the true number around the world is higher because of the testing shortage. The data from the Johns Hopkins University says that the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 600,000.
The University's tally of Saturday night says that the United States tops the list with 140,103 deaths. Followed by 78,772 fatalities in Brazil and 45,358 in the UK
