New Delhi: COVID 19 has infected over 80,000 people in the National Capital Delhi, with 2,948 cases in the last 24 hours. The death toll in Delhi has reached 2,558. Delhi has become the worst affected city in the nation, leaving behind Mumbai.
The last 24 hours of national capital has seen, the recovery of more than 2,200 people. With 49,301 recovered people, the recovery rate now stands at 61%.
According to health department, around 49,301 patients have recovered, been discharged or migrated in Delhi and 28,329 are active cases.
In the last 24 hours, it has been reported that over 19,000 people have been tested. The national capital is also suffering from the shortage of hospital beds for infected patients. However, a new scheme to combat coronavirus, serological survey is anticipated to ease the situation.
Based on the current situation and data, Delhi is expected to have 5.5 lakh coronavirus cases by July 31, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia had said. He also added that every 12-13 days, the conditions are worsening.
Delhi ranks number two at India's worst affected state's list with 80,188 cases. Maharashtra being at the top. India crossed the 5-lakh mark today with record 18,552 cases today, according to government data.
