New Delhi: Today India's coronavirus tally reached 20,88,61 with 61,537 cases being reported in a day. In the past 24 hours, recoveries rose to 48,901 including 13,78,105 total, as per the Union Health Ministry data.
In the country, there are 6,19,088 active cases of coronavirus infection presently while the recovery rate among coronavirus patents has gone up to 67.62%.
This is the ninth consecutive day that coronavirus cases have increased by more than 50,000.
In the past 24 hours, 933 patients succumbed to coronavirus infection, taking the overall death toll to 42,518.
According to the ICMR, a cumulative total of 2,33,87,171 samples have been tested till August 7 with 5,98,778 samples being tested on Friday.
The gap between active and recoveries cases has seen a steady rise. For the first time on 10th June 2020, the total number of recovered patients exceeded active cases with a difference of 1,573.
Amidst the rising death and coronavirus cases across the world, Russia has been pushing extensively for the coronavirus vaccine for quite some time now. On August 12 the country will register its first vaccine against coronavirus Deputy Health Minister Oleg Gridnev said on Friday, according to a report.
On Friday Pune-based Serum Institue of India(SII) has entered into a new partnership with Gavi, the vaccine alliance and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to speed up the process of manufacture and delivery of upto 100 million doses of coronavirus vaccine for India and other third world countries, SII said in a statement.
