Andhra Pradesh: Officials Use Earthmover To Shift COVID-19 Victim Body To Crematorium
New Delhi: In Andhra Pradesh in a shocking incident, the body of 72-year-old coronavirus patient was shifted to a crematorium using the earthmover.
A municipal commissioner and a sanitary inspector of a town in Andhra Pradesh were suspended for allegedly permitting the local civic staff to tow away the body.
The incident took place in Palasa-Kasibugga municipality of Srikakulam district. The video of the incident went viral on social media and was flashed in the television channels in the afternoon.
The victim was the former municipal employee, died at his house. He was tested positive for Coronavirus while being deployed during a door to door health survey.
While the family members had not come forward to cremate the body, the neighbors brought pressure on the municipal authorities to take the body for the area at the earliest.
“Since it was a small town, there was no ambulance facility to take the body to the cremation crowd. The municipal authorities thought of bringing an ambulance from Srikakulam, but the neighbors were not willing to wait till then. Hence, the municipal commissioner had no option but to shift the body to the cremation ground using an earthmover,” the official said
