But Too Late, Chaos In City, Mumbai Ordered To Stay At Home

MUMBAI:  By 12 pm, Mumbai was being urged to stay at home and step out only in case of an emergency after non-stop rain poured down through the morning, disrupting the city's crucial trains and causing massive jams.
Television visuals showed a hospital in Parel flooded. Cars in Lower Parel were stranded; one driver lowered his window to show that he was nearly knee-deep in water.
The city's municipal corporation, Aditya Thackeray, whose Shiv Sena has charge said offices must not close early because the roads are already clogged with thousands of commuters. "A request to all at offices, stay put in offices till the rains subside. High tide around 4 pm. Heavy rains predicted bet Met dept," he tweeted.
With trains on all the three lines Suburban services were disrupted - western, central and harbour - running late. Large parts of train tracks were submerged in water.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said there's no reason for panic but urged people not to venture onto the roads.
Actor-turned-entrepreneur Gul Panag tweeted, "Brace yourself Mumbai. Heavy rain coming.Plan ahead. Stay safe."
