Tik Tok Chief Executive Kevin Mayer Quits
New Delhi: The Tik Tok chief executive officer Kevin Mayer has left the company said in a statement. Kevin's resignation comes days after the popular short-form video-sharing app and one of its employees separately sued US President Donald Trump's administration over his executive order banning transactions in the US.
The Tik Tok CEO in a letter to the staff said "It is with a heavy heart that I wanted to let you all know that I have decided to leave the company."
On the interim basis, Tik Tok General Manager Vanessa Pappas will replace Kevin Mayer.
Mr. Mayer in June assumed the role of the chief operating officer at Tik Tok's China-based parent, ByteDance.He directly reports to the company's founder and CEO Yiming Zhang.
Following a long and successful career at Disney Mr. Mayer had joined Tik Tok, most recently as chairman of its direct-to-consumer and international businesses, as per TikTok's website.
He oversaw the development and successful rollout f Disney+, the company's flagship streaming service as a key part of his role there.
California based Tik Tok and ByteDabce meanwhile have rejected what they call the White House's position that it was a national security threat, saying they had taken "extraordinary measures to protect the privacy and security of TikTok's US user data".
