"Faceless, Fair, Fearless" Assessment Taxpayers Charter From Today, Says PM Modi
New Delhi: PM Modi has launched a platform to honor the honest taxpayers of the country The platform named “Transparent Taxation - Honoring The Honest” to bring transparency in the income tax system and empowering taxpayers, as per the government.
"The country's honest taxpayer plays a big role in nation-building... The new facilities being launched today reinforce the government's commitment to honoring the honest," PM Modi added.
The newly launched platform will offer the faceless assessments, faceless appeal, and the taxpayer charter. From September 25, the faceless appeal will be applicable, while the faceless assessment and the taxpayers charter will come in force from the very day of the launch.
10 Things to know about the tax reforms:
1- PM Modi in a virtual address said that "The Transparent Taxation platform is based on reforms such as faceless assessment, faceless appeal, and taxpayers' charter... A 'faceless' tax system will give the taxpayer confidence on Fairless and fearlessness".
2- PM Modi said that the roll-out of the "Transparent Taxation - Honoring the Honest" platform is a new milestone in the structural reforms initiated by the government.
3- "Taxpayers will now be given the respect they deserve. The taxpayer will now be trusted, not looked at with doubt. The tax department will have to carry out the steps and processes in a time-bound manner," said PM Modi
4- "The government is now focussing on making tax-paying seamless, painless, faceless. Faceless as it shouldn't matter who is paying tax and who is tax officer," PM Modi said.
5- The Finance Minister in a tweet said, "Truly, this shall mark an important step forward in providing a simple and transparent taxation regime for India".
6- In the Union Budget for the fiscal year, 2020-21 by the Finance Minister the taxpayers charter was announced. The facility is supposed to empower citizens by ensuring time-bound services by the Income Tax Department.
7- Narendra Modi said that over the past six years, the government has focused on "banking the unbanked, securing the unsecured and funding the unfunded". "In a way, today's launch marks a new beginning in this direction," the Prime Minister said.
