India former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been steps down as captaincy of Rising Pune Supergiants for the 11 season of India Premier League ( IPL ) 2017. The Ranchi boy who resigned from captaincy in the limited over format before the England series. Australia batsman Steve Smith, will be the new captain Rising Pune Supergiants. The Sydney ( Australia ) born batsman is the current Australia skipper.
This deed has completed Dhoni innings as captain in both international and franchise cricket.
"Dhoni has not stepped down. We have appointed Steve Smith as the skipper for the upcoming season. Frankly speaking, we did not have a good last season and we wanted someone young to lead the side and revamp it ahead of the upcoming season 10." Rising Pune Supergiants owner Sanjiv Goenka told PTI.
"I have the highest regard for MS Dhoni as a leader and a person, Dhoni continues to be an integral member of our team. He is supportive of the decision keeping the franchise best interest in mind." Goenka added.
Authority said that the former Chennai Super Kings captain has been informed of the decision by the Franchise.
The flamboyant batsman Steve Smith is presently the skipper of the Australia Cricket team in all three formats ( T20 , ODI , Test ). He was selected test captain in 2014/15 and he accept over the ODI captaincy rule after the end of the 2015 world cup.
