Srinagar: A young, unarmed jawan of the Border Security Force was killed by terrorists in the outskirts of Jammu and Kashmir capital Srinagar who barged into his house and opened indiscriminate firing. The 31-year-old died on the spot. Four of his family members also injured in the attack have been taken to hospital.
The police said the shocking incident took place on Wednesday evening in Bandipora, about 15 km north of Srinagar.
SP Vaid, the Jammu and Kashmir police chief called the killing "barbaric and inhuman" and vowed to punish the guilty.
The BSF said Constable Rameez Ahmad Parray had joined the BSF about six years ago and had gone home on a short vacation.
He was home on Wednesday evening when an unspecified number of terrorists entered the house. Four of his family members - his father, two brothers and an aunt were injured, police said.
The condition of the jawan's aunt is stated to be serious.
