Attack On Egypt’s St. George’s Coptic Church

An attack took place at the entrance of St. Mark’s Cathedral in the northern city of Alexandria, where 17 are dead and many are injured. Three police officers are included in the death as they were trying to stop the Bomber from entering the site. The Head of Egypt’s Coptic Church, Pope Tawadros II was also packed with churchgoers but he was not harmed.

The attack took place on one of the holiest days in Christian calendar, according to the IS two suicide bombers carried the blast. Out of which one is blasted at St. George’s Coptic Church where 27 people are killed, said by the Health Ministry.

The two attack happened in which at least 44 people are dead and more than 100 people are injured, it is the deadliest one day to strike Egypt’s Coptic Christian Minority in decades. The responsibility for both bombings by the Amaq News Agency which is affiliated to Islamist Militant Group claimed by The Islamic State. Pope Francis and president Trump condiment the attacks.

President Abdel Fatah el-Sissi declared the state emergency across the country for 3 months by Sunday night.

On Sunday’s assaults threatens too many separate the country’s Orthodox Coptic Christian community, which is 10% of the population. Egypt’s Copts have faced the injustice by the country’s Muslims, and since 2011 revolution they faced assault against them.

El-Sissi is been largely supported by the Christians, who came in power after the conquer of elected Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in 2013. The anger of Christian community towards el-Sissi is growing. Due to the attacks in recent months, as the government has promised to safeguard the Christians with better security measures.
